RESISTANCE & LIMITING BELIEFS

If you don’t deal with your resistance, there is no point in conducting these sessions! Note down you answers to the following questions:

(1) What is the “downside” to improving my stage fright?  

(2) What might change in my life that will be uncomfortable for me?  

(3) How might my confidence and speaking and performing ability and confidence improvement “rock the boat” in my family, with my friends and colleagues or at work?

(4) Who might feel uncomfortable with my being more comfortable and successful?

Incorporate the answers to your questions into the tapping phrases below.

Introduction to The Tapping Points

Basic Tapping Sequence for Resistance

It is important to use your own language, so find the words and phrases that you feel have the strongest effect on you.

Notice if the words you use begin to shift and change as new ideas and aspects emerge and are uncovered as the deeper layers are revealed.

EFT ROUND #1

While tapping on the karate chop point, repeat the following phrases:

  • Even though I am resistant to improving my confidence, to speaking up and sharing my message, I’m learning to love, forgive and accept myself…
  • Even though I don’t really want to improve my confidence, to speak up and share my message, I choose to accept myself anyway…
  • Even though I’m afraid to speak up, stand out, share my authentic message and perform more confidently, I accept and love all of me.

Then tap on the following points while saying the phrases listed below:

  • HEAD: I have all of this resistance
  • EYEBROW: I have this resistance to improving my confidence
  • SIDE OF EYE: I don’t want to improve my public speaking and confidence
  • UNDER EYE: I am afraid to speak out
  • UNDER NOSE: I thought I wanted to perform better
  • CHIN: I don’t really want to stand up, speak out and stand out
  • COLLARBONE: This resistance to clearing this stage fright
  • UNDER ARM: I have this resistance to improving my confidence
  • LIVER POINT: I’m afraid of improving my stage fright, speaking up and standing out
  • THUMB: This resistance is a learned coping strategy
  • INDEX FINGER: This resistance protected me when I learned it
  • MIDDLE FINGER: I thought this resistance was helping me
  • RING FINGER: This resistance is holding me back
  • LITTLE FINGER: All this resistance to speaking up and standing out.

Then start tapping again on the eyebrow point and repeat these positive phrases:

  • HEAD: I am ready to begin clearing this resistance
  • EYEBROW: I will consider releasing the resistance
  • SIDE OF EYE: I can allow myself to get over this resistance
  • UNDER EYE: I choose to feel ready to release the resistance
  • UNDER NOSE: I feel free to release the resistance
  • CHIN: I choose to let go of this resistance
  • COLLARBONE: It feels so good to allow clarity and confidence into my life
  • UNDER ARM: I appreciate my confidence and my voice
  • LIVER POINT: I am able to release this resistance and its safe to speak up and stand out
  • THUMB: This time to replace this learned coping strategy
  • INDEX FINGER: This resistance protected me when I learned it
  • MIDDLE FINGER: It is not protecting me or helping me now
  • RING FINGER: This resistance has held me back for long enough
  • LITTLE FINGER: It’s safe to let go of this resistance to speaking up and standing out.

EFT ROUND #2

This round will focus in on any scepticism.

There are so many unconscious programs that we all have installed in our younger (and sometimes not so younger) life. These programs simply mean we have limited choices and believe it’s good to stay small, to hold on to fear as a way of keeping us safe, and yet the result is we feel we have no choices.

Clearing the limiting beliefs and programmes opens up choices

While tapping on the karate chop point, repeat the following phrases:

  • Even though I may be sceptical that this will work, I choose to do the exercises anyway…
  • Even though my scepticism is really fear, I accept and love myself anyway…
  • Even though I have doubts about this tapping and EFT improving my confidence, I choose to accept the possibility now.

Then tap on the following points while saying the phrases listed below:

  • HEAD: I have all of this scepticism about tapping for clearing stage fright and building confidence
  • EYEBROW: I have this scepticism about EFT improving my confidence
  • SIDE OF EYE: How can this improve my confidence
  • UNDER EYE: I am afraid to speak up and stand out.
  • UNDER NOSE: This scepticism
  • CHIN: These doubts about this tapping working
  • COLLARBONE: This scepticism to clearing my fear
  • UNDER ARM: I an sceptical this will improving my confidence
  • THUMB: How can this even work?
  • INDEX FINGER: This scepticism protected me when I learned it
  • MIDDLE FINGER: It can stop me for experimenting, being open and creative
  • RING FINGER: This scepticism has held me back for long enough
  • LITTLE FINGER: It’s safe to let go of this scepticism about tapping.
  • HEAD: I have so many doubts about this and it won’t hurt to try…

Then start tapping again on the eyebrow point and repeat these positive phrases:

  • HEAD: It really can’t hurt to try this tapping for change
  • EYEBROW: I will consider being open to new possibilities
  • SIDE OF EYE: I can allow myself to release the resistance
  • UNDER EYE: I choose to release the doubts
  • UNDER NOSE: I feel freer already
  • CHIN: I choose to let go of this resistance
  • COLLARBONE: It feels so good to allow confidence into my life
  • UNDER ARM: I appreciate being open and creative
  • THUMB: If this did work my life would be different
  • INDEX FINGER: Being creative, confident and free feels great
  • MIDDLE FINGER: I allow myself to experiment, be open and creative
  • RING FINGER: It is safe for me to be open and have fun
  • LITTLE FINGER: I choose to be more confident and more open to all life has to offer me
  • HEAD: I am open to and able to have a fun, fulfilled and fabulous life!
